1928年不满28岁任孤山罗苑国立艺术院首任院长；1934年在马岭山自建玉泉别墅，沦陷期间别墅沦为日军马厩，油画被撕毁。1951年辞职迁居上海，1959年别墅被杭州植物园收买。
